ODESSA, Texas — Two pedestrians were struck and killed over the past two days on Odessa-area roads, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Earlier this morning, May 18, 2020, at approximately 12:33 a.m., police say 16-year-old Reyna M. Rodriguez of Midland, Texas, was struck by a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck while walking in the center of the Knox Avenue in West Odessa, an unincorporated area of Ector County just west of Odessa, Texas — this according to the Texas Department's preliminary crash investigation.

Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 18-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram, of Odessa, was uninjured.

Yesterday, May 17, 2020, at approximately 6:41 p.m., police say 37-year-old Patricia H. Munoz, of Odessa, was in the center of the U.S. Highway 385, approximately five miles south of the city limits of Odessa, when she was struck by a 2013 Chrysler 300. When the driver of the vehicle observed Munoz in the road, he swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, according to investigators.

Munoz was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where she was pronounced deceased. The 20-year-old driver, of Odessa, was uninjured.
