CRANE, Texas — Two adults and three children were killed in a head-on collission in west Texas early yesterday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed today.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, on U.S. Highway 385 seven miles south of Crane, Texas. The stretch of highway, which is currently under construction, connects Crane to McCamey, Texas — both of which are located about 30 miles south of Odessa.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety preliminary crash investigation, 23-year-old Bailey N. Nisbet of Baytown, Texas, was driving a 2019 GMC Yukon southbound on U.S. Highway 385 when she drifted into the northbound lane and struck a 2017 Toyota Tundra, driven by 67-year-old Carl Rice of McCamey.
Police say Nisbet and three children in her vehicle were pronounced deceased on scene. They were identified as 5-year-old Kimber Nisbet, 3-year-old Kamberee Nisbet, and 11-month-old Kasen Nisbet.
Rice was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
All the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and the weather and road conditions were clear and dry, according to DPS.
