ODESSA, Texas — A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting another man in the face for intervening in domestic violence dispute.
According to the Odessa Police Department, 21-year-old Isaiah Elias Lara has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, after he shot another man in the face.
At approximately 3:58 a.m., on June 26, 2020, Odessa police officers responded to the 2500 block of West 8th Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 32-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the face. The male victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
During their investigation, Odessa police officers made contact with a 19-year-old female who reported she was being assaulted by her boyfriend, who she identified as Lara, when the male victim attempted to intervene.
According to the female victim, Lara was repeatedly kicking and hitting her in the face when the male victim witnessed what was happening and attempted to stop Lara. Instead Lara shot the male victim in the face and fled the scene in a red BMW.
Police later found Lara hiding in a residence in the 900 block of East 25th Street, where he was arrested.
According to the Odessa Police Department, more charges are pending and their investigation is still ongoing.
Police had not provided a condition report on the male victim as of press time.
