MIDLAND, Texas — An alleged child predator wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has ties to west Texas and has an oilfield and welding background.

24-year-old Jose A. Navarrete Jr. is wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl in Sacramento County, California.

His last known location was in west Texas and he has ties to the Midland-Odessa area, Mexico, and New Mexico. He may be in these areas as well as Arizona, according to the FBI.

"On June 14, 2019, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Navarrete, Jr. by the Sacramento County Superior Court after he was charged with four counts of lewd or lascivious act with a child under 14, three counts of sex act with a child ten years old or younger, and four counts of oral sex with a child ten years old or younger," states his FBI Wanted bulletin.

On August 22, 2019, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, Sacramento, California, for Navarrete, Jr. after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Navarrete Jr., who also goes by Arturo or Navarette, is described as a Hispanic with hazel eyes, black hair, approximately 5'11", and 172 pounds. His previous occupation is listed as a welder's assistant. His place of birth is Midland, Texas.

The FBI is offering a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Navarrete Jr.
