HOUSTON, Texas — Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department's Major Assaults and Family Violence Division are seeking the public's assistance locating a fugitive wanted on felony assault family violence charges.
Police are searching for 34-year-old Matthew Benavides on two counts of felony assault - family violence — charges which were enhanced due to numerous previous family violence-related convictions.
An arrest warrant was issued for Benavides in connection with a December 31, 2019, family violence assault in the 7700 block of Avenue H in Houston, Texas. There, police allege Benavides struck the victim several times on the head causing injury and pain.
Benavies is also wanted on a warrant in connection with a July 2019 family violence assault in Harris County.
According to court records, Benavides was previously convicted for misdemeanor assault of a family member in 2018, felony assault of a family member in 2016, and two misdemeanor assault of a family member charges in 2011.
Benavides is described by police as a white male, approximately 6'02", 240 lbs., with brown eyes and short dark hair.
