HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed and at least seven others were injured in a shooting "ambush" while filming a rap video in the Houston area.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says around 9:30 p.m. a group of Hispanic males, in their 20s, were filming a rap video in the parking lot of several businesses adjacent a residential neighborhood in the 500 block of Smart Street when they were ambushed.

Two of the men were pronounced deceased at the scene. At least seven others were known to have been injured in the shooting and either were transported to area hospitals or self-transported. Gonzalez says there may be more victims who fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

At the time of press, a motive for the shooting was unknown and remained a subject of the investigation.

Investigators are asking the public for tips or video, either from the scene or nearby residential or business surveillance, in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office at (713) 921-6000 or Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-8477.
