KELLER, Texas — Former Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton has been arrested and charged with injury to a child, a third-degree felony.

Hamilton was arrested on the charge Wednesday, booked into the Tarrant County Jail, and immediately released after posting a $35,000 bond.

Hamilton allegedly assaulted one of his daughters on September 30, 2019, after she made a comment that angered him, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The affidavit alleges Hamilton threw a water bottle and chair at his daughter, lifted her over his shoulder, and threw her onto her bed where he pinned her and struck her repeatedly.

The Keller Police Department issued an arrest warrant on Monday in the case and Hamilton turned himself in earlier today.

Hamilton played six seasons for the Rangers from 2008 until 2012 and 2015. He was inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame in August.
