SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A San Antonio woman allegedly shot and killed her two children and her mother in an apparent murder-suicide, police said Monday morning.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus, citing preliminary investigation information, says the 38-year-old woman, her three-year-old son, five-year-old daughter, and 68-year-old mother were all found deceased of apparent gunshot wounds in an apartment unit in the Sedona Ranch Apartments at 17655 Henderson Pass.

McManus says the father of the children had attempted to get in contact with the woman when he went to the apartment Monday morning, peered through a slit in the blinds, observed the bodies, and called 911.

The woman had recently lost custody of the children, he said.

Its unknown when the shooting occurred as nearby residents did not immediately report sounds of gunfire.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
