LUBBOCK, Texas — A Texas man has been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on two counts of production of child pornography.
37-year-old Douglas Stephen Groover of Water Valley, Texas, was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on Tuesday in Lubbock, Texas, before United States District Judge James Wesley Hendrix of the Northern District of Texas.
Groover had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography in February 2020.
According to court documents, Groover had produced hundreds of videos and images of himself sexually abusing a minor child and admitted to sexually abusing two other minor children.
"Groover also admitted to maintaining a large collection of child pornography, which included depictions of the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers, sadism and bestiality," read a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Texas.
Groover was additionally sentenced to a lifetime term of supervised release and ordered to pay $53,000 in restitution.
Water Valley is a small, unincorporated community in Tom Green County, just northwest of San Angelo, Texas, which recorded a population of 120 in 2000.
The case was investigated by HSI’s San Angelo, Texas, office, and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the High Technology Investigative Unit within the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division.
