RALLS, Texas — A 16-year-old Ralls teen was killed in a crash with a Greyhound bus on Monday night, according to police.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:22 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62 and U.S. Highway 82 just outside the western city limits of Ralls, Texas — which is located approximately 30 miles east of Lubbock, Texas.
A 1991 Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 62 and failed to yield to the right-of-way at the U.S. Highway 82 intersection, traveled in front of a Greayhound bus which was westbound on U.S. Highway 82, and was struck on the driver side door, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Johnny Bures, citing preliminary crash investigation.
Both vehicles came to a rest in the center median.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, identified by police as 16-year-old Ryan Avery Sosa Soliz, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported for the 16 passengers or driver, of Lancaster, Texas, on the Greyhound bus.
Road and weather conditions were clear, cloudy, and dry. The posted speed limit was 65 miles per hour.
