WATAUGA, Texas — The Watauga Police Department is seeking a suspect who shot an officer in the arm and ran over another officer's foot during a police chase late Monday night.

At approximately 10 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle 6200 block of Stardust Drive South. According to police, the vehicle was determined to be stolen.

"After initially stopping for officers, the driver drove away running over an officers foot in the process," stated the department. "Officers began to pursue the vehicle but lost him when he bailed out of the vehicle and ran on foot."

According to the department, officers set up a perimeter and the suspect was located. During their attempt to detain the suspect he fired multiple rounds at the officers, striking one in the arm, and fled again by foot.

"Another perimeter was set up and an extensive search by multiple law enforcement agencies was conducted," stated the department. "After several hours of searching, the suspect was not located and the search was concluded."

The Watauga Police Department confirmed both officers that were assaulted are in good condition and recovering.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 30's, thin build, and approximately 5'10" to 6'0", he was wearing a red/orange shirt and tan pants.
