DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public's assistance identifying the driver of a dark-colored Dodge sedan that was captured on surveillance video near, and around the time, one-year-old Rory Norman was shot and killed on Sunday morning.

Police say the vehicle was driving on Valentine Street around the time of the murder and the driver or occupants may have information that could aid in their investigation.

At approximately 3:37 a.m., the Dallas Police Department responded to the Valentine Street residence where, upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated an unknown suspect fired several rounds into his home — striking him and his one-year-old child.

The child, identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office as Rory Norman, was transported to Children's Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The adult suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival, according to the Dallas Police Department.

"Not only are we brokenhearted, we are angry," Dallas Police Department Chief U. Renee Hall stated during a Sunday afternoon press conference. "This one-year-old baby was killed due to senseless gun violence in this city that we are determined and aggressive about eradicating in 2020."

Hall said the residence was targeted and the gunman shot only into bedrooms, at a downward angle, near the beds.

"It was intentional, it was deliberate, and this location was targeted," she said.

The man injured was Norman's uncle, according to Hall.

"We know that someone, somewhere, knows something," stated Hall, pleading the public for information in the case.
