FOREST HILL, Texas — The alleged suspect who shot a female Forest Hill Police Department officer early Wednesday morning and stole her patrol vehicle, leading police on a pursuit, has died, according to police.
Police have not identified the suspect or detailed how the suspect died.
The suspect shot Forest Hill Police Department officer Naquirra Williams in the forearm around 2:30 a.m. near a gas station in the 6600 block of Forest Hill — a suburb of Fort Worth.
The suspect then allegedly stole Williams' patrol vehicle and led police on a chase which ended in a crash on U.S. Highway 287 near downtown Fort Worth.
Forest Hill Police Department Chief Dan Dennis tells WFAA-TV that there were more shots following the crash and that the suspect has died.
Williams is reportedly in stable condition and underwent surgery Wednesday morning.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
