DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police say a man admitted to sexually assaulting his grandmother early Saturday morning before bludgeoning her to death with a fire extinguisher.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., July 25, 2020, the Dallas Police Department responded to a health and welfare check in the 4900 block of Terry Street, just northeast of downtown Dallas.
There, police discovered the victim, 71-year-old Irish Harrison unresponsive in the residence. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced Harrison deceased at the scene.
Harrison's grandson, 32-year-old Michael Robinson, was at the scene when police arrived.
Robinson was transported to the Dallas Police Department headquarters, read his Miranda rights, and admitted to sexually assaulting Harrison, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Following the assault, Robinson told police he struck Harrison with his hands and feet and then striking her multiple times in the head with a fire extinguisher. Robinson also provided investigators with the location of the fire extinguisher.
Robinson was booked into the Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with capital murder. Bond information was not available at the time of press as Robinson was awaiting arraignment.
