PLANO, Texas — A Plano man was arrested yesterday on charges for possessing and promoting child pornography and possession of methamphetamine, the Collin County Sheriff's Office announced earlier today.
60-year-old Charles Aaron Barnes was arrested on December 18, 2019, by the Collin County Sheriff's Office Child Exploitation Unit investigators for promotion of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 between four and 200 grams.
Barnes is being held at the Collin County Jail on bonds totaling $25,000.
Investigators, working in an undercover capacity, identified Barnes as an individual utilizing the internet to traffic in child pornography, according to the Collin County Sheriff's Office.
"These investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the suspect's residence in Plano, Texas," read a statement from the sheriff's office. "Evidence recovered at the scene include devices utilized to share and view child pornography as well as eight grams of methamphetamine."
The Texas Department of Public Safety, Plano Police Department, and Wylie Police Department assisted in the investigation.
