PLANO, Texas — A north Texas woman has been arrested and charged with selling alcohol to three minors who later died in a fiery crash, according to police.
36-year-old Yu Gao of Plano, Texas, was arrested and charged with three counts of alcohol sale to a minor and one count of sale of an alcoholic beverage during prohibited hours in connection with the fatal crash investigation, the Plano Police Department announced.
On February 17, 2020, at approximately 3:40 a.m., the Plano Police Department responded to a crash in the 3200 block of Hedgcoxe Road. There, police discovered a 2019 BMW sedan that had struck a tree, split apart, and engulfed in flames.
18-year-old Yuxuan Wang, 16-year-old Yuchen Jin, and 18-year-old Jin Chen all of Plano, were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
Police say speed and alcohol are contributing factors in the crash.
During the course of the crash investigation, police say they issued the arrest warrants for Gao who was later arrested on February 28, 2020.
