DALLAS, Texas — A north Texas man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, on U.S. Highway 180W 4.9 miles west of Snyder, Texas — which is located approximately 80 miles west of Abilene, Texas.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers say the weather and road conditions were raining and wet at the time of the crash.
According to preliminary crash investigation, a 2017 Polaris Slingshot, which is a three-wheeled vehicle, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 180 when it hydroplaned, slid off the south side of the roadway, and crashed through a barrow ditch and fence.
The driver of the Slingshot, 48-year-old Charles Surgin Gardner of Glenn Heights — which is located just south of Dallas — was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to DPS.
