SHERMAN, Texas — The Grayson County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the discovery of a missing 21-year-old woman's body as a homicide, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office announced yesterday.
21-year-old Emilia Gunnels of Sherman, Texas, was reported missing on Sunday, March 22, 2020. She was last seen by her family on Saturday night.
City of Sherman city workers discovered her body underneath a bridge on Blue Flame Road on Monday, March 23, 2020, at approximately 2:27 p.m.
Gunnels was pronounced deceased at the scene of the discovery by a justice of the peace and her body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office where it was positively identified.
"The Grayson County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are currently working the case as a homicide and are actively working leads and talking to witness [sic]," read a statement from the sheriff's office.
