DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas woman is on the run after police say she shot her estranged boyfriend during an interaction in which he refused to argue with her in west Shreveport.
Although the shooting occurred in Shreveport, police believe the woman, identified as 29-year-old Jenalisha Lawrence, may have fled to the Dallas area, where she is from.
Around 7:30 a.m., on July 18, 2020, the Shreveport Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Grigsby Street for a reported shooting. There, officers located a 34-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the body.
The man, who police did not identify, remains hospitalized in critical condition and "fighting for his life," according to police.
"Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and following evidence collection and interviews with witnesses, learned that the victim was shot by his estranged girlfriend, 29-year-old Jenalisha Lawrence," read a statement from the Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers. "Lawrence allegedly shot the victim following an interaction in which he refused to argue with her."
Lawrence fled the scene in a green Honda Accord with primer on the left passenger's side front door.
"Lawrence has addresses in the 3100 block of Lindholm Street and the 2800 block of Drexel; however, investigators feel it is likely that Lawrence fled to the Dallas, Texas area where she is from," continued the statement from Crime Stoppers.
A warrant has been issued for Lawrence's arrest for one count of attempted second-degree murder with bond set at $150,000.
Anyone with information on Lawrence's whereabouts is asked to contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or, those who wish to remain anonymous, are asked to call Shreveport Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or via their app P3Tips.
