DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas man tragically drowned while attempting to save his son at Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma on Father's Day, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
On Sunday, June 20, 2021, 47-year-old Carlo Lomas Sr., of Dallas, Texas, and 18-year-old Carlo Lomas Jr. were swimming at Broken Bow Lake when authorities say the son began struggling in the water.
The elder Lomas attempted to rescue his son when they both went underwater.
Bystanders pulled both to shore where they were further transported to McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma, where Lomas Sr. was pronounced deceased. The son was last listed in stable condition.
Police say neither were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
