DALLAS, Texas — A 20-year-old Dallas man pleaded guilty to smuggling $1.1 million in crystal meth from Mexico, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Texas announced today.

On June 6, 2021, Luke Law was vacationing in Monterrey, Mexico, when he attempted to cross into the United States. Law's vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection when a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

An scan of the vehicle identified bundles behind vehicle's gas tank and, upon further inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents discovered 29 bundles of crystal meth, weighing approximately 25.16 kilograms, wrapped in clear tape — an estimated street value of $1.1 million, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo accepted the plea and set sentencing for a future date.

At sentencing, Law faces up to life in prison and a possible $10 million maximum fine. He will remain in custody until sentencing.
