FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — UPDATE — Two children abducted during an auto theft have been found safe — bringing an end to an AMBER Alert issued Sunday.

ORIGINAL — An AMBER Alert has been issued for two children abducted during a vehicle theft in North Texas on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the owner of a maroon 2016 GMC Terrain stepped out of their vehicle to check their mail when a suspect jumped in the vehicle and stole it — with two children in the backseat.

The vehicle, which is bearing Texas license plate No. HFL1525, was last seen in the 4000 block of Sigma in Farmers Branch, Texas, around 3:35 p.m. on March 1, 2020.

Four-year-old Princess Scarlett and six-year-old Preston Scarlett were identified by police in an AMBER Alert as the children in the vehicle at the time of the theft.

Princess is described as a black female with brown hair and brown eyes, approximately three-feet tall, 35 pounds, with braids and multi-color beads in her hair. She was last seen wearing a white shirt with mermaid in the middle, blue jeans, and black and pink Nike shoes.

Preston is described as a black male with brown hair and brown eyes, approximately four-feet tall, 42 pounds, and has a mohawk hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans with a tear in the left knee, and black Nike shoes.

The maroon 2016 GMC Terrain has a damaged front bumper with a black passenger side quarter panel and a different color red front passenger door.
