DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police officers found a six-year-old boy locked in a shed behind a home after responding to a health and welfare concern late Sunday night.

The discovery was made at a home in the 1100 block of Coston Drive, which is located southeast of the intersection of Lake June Road and South Buckner Boulevard and across the street from the Pleasant Grove Stadium.

"After being directed by a witness, officers searched a shed, where they discovered a 6-year-old male child locked inside," read a statement from the Dallas Police Department to MyTexasDaily.com.

"Due to the sensitive nature of this incident and witness(es) yet to be interviewed, we are unable to provide any additional information, nor release/confirm the names of those taken into custody at this time," stated the department.

The child was checked by Dallas Fire-Rescue on scene but, ultimately was not transported to a hospital.

Two people were arrested during the incident, Dallas police confirm.

According to CBS DFW, the two arrested individuals were the child's grandmother and her boyfriend.

Child Protective Services removed the six-year-old boy and seven-year-old sister and four-year-old brother from the home, WFAA reported.
