HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy pulled an elderly woman from the window of a burning home on Tuesday, after smashing it out and calling to her — the rescue all caught on the officer's body-worn camera.
Early this morning, at approximately 3:25 a.m., the deputy responded to and arrived less than five minutes from dispatch to a trailer home fire in the 6500 block of Zaragosa.
The deputy arrived to the home engulfed in flames and neighbors alerting the deputy to the resident's presence in a back bedroom.
Deputy Roberto Martinez smashed the window, called to the woman, lifted her through the window, and carried her to safety before collapsing from exhaustion and smoke inhalation.
The woman and Martinez were treated at an area hospital for smoke inhalation, according to the sheriff's office.
The Baytown Fire Department responded to the fire and reported the fire is believed to be accidental.
