RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents raided three Texas Rio Grande Valley stash houses over the past several days and arrested 26 illegal immigrants.
The latest raid came Monday when U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector received information on a residence operating as a stash house in Rio Grande City, Texas. There, with assistance from the Starr County Sheriff's Office, authorities discovered eight illegal immigrants inside the residence.
Additionally, since Friday, agents discovered and raided two other stash houses in Rio Grande City and Weslaco, Texas, that led to the arrest of 18 more illegal immigrants.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the arrested individuals were from Mexico, Honduras, Salvador, and Guatemala.
During the month of August, U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector apprehended 22,356 illegal immigrants, according to the agency.
