GARLAND, Texas — The Garland Police Department has announced the arrests of two men sought in the slaying of a gas station clerk during a robbery on May 22.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., on May 22, 2019, two unknown males entered a convenience store in the 4400 block of West Walnut. Video surveillance shows the two men enter with handguns drawn and demand money from the two clerks.
One of the clerks, identified as 30-year-old Heng Lam, was shot during the robbery and transported to an area hospital where he later died.
On June 11, 2019, detectives identified 18-year-old Luis Alejandro Espinoza as one of the suspects involved in the murder. This morning, June 12, 2019, Espinoza was arrested at a residence in the 10500 block of Ferguson Road in Dallas, Texas.
Also today, detectives identified the second suspect, 18-year-old Emmanuel Martinez, and arrested him at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Edgefield Drive in Garland, Texas.
Both are currently being held at the Garland City Jail on charges of capital murder. Bond information was not available at the time of press.
"Detectives are not searching for any other suspects in conjunction to this murder investigation at this time," read a statement from the department.
