AMARILLO, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers discovered methamphetamine inside a vehicle's gas tank last week after a traffic stop in Carson County.
At approximately 5:49 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a 2008 Honda Accord on eastbound Interstate 40 near Conway for a traffic violation.
According to DPS, the trooper later discovered 30 pounds of methamphetamine in multiple vacuum-sealed bags concealed inside the gas tank.
The driver and passenger, 36-year-old Delia Salazar and Juan Velasquez-Solis, respectively, both of Phoenix, were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Both were booked into the Randall County Jail.
DPS says the methamphetamine was allegedly being transported form Phoenix to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were contacted to assist with the case. DEA Special Agents arrived on scene and adopted the case.
