WEATHERFORD, Texas — A Weatherford police officer discovered 57 pounds of marijuana destined for Fort Worth in a stalled vehicle on Sunday evening.

Weatherford Police Department Officer K. Callaway observed a stalled vehicle in the 800 block of the south service road of Interstate Highway 20. Callaway, according to a release from the department, made contact with a male subject who was walking back towards the vehicle carrying motor oil.

That man, identified by police as 30-year-old Jorge Ramos of El Paso, Texas, said he was driving from El Paso to Fort Worth.

"During a consensual search of the vehicle, Officer Callaway discovered 47 bundles of marijuana concealed inside," stated the department.

Ramos was arrested for possession of marijuana more than 50 pounds and less than 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony.
