FALFURRIAS, Texas — Nearly $700,000 was seized from a South Texas traffic stop last Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., on June 21, 2019, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a Nissan Note traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 281, just south of Falfurrias in Brooks County, for a traffic violation.

"During the stop, the trooper discovered 39 bundles of U.S. currency totaling $680,319, which was concealed in a false compartment," stated the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver, 33-year-old Alfredo Alvarado Alcocer of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, was arrested for money laundering and booked into the Brooks County Jail.
