VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office deputy and his K-9 partner seized 220 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop yesterday, according to the sheriff's office in a press release.
Yesterday, Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Burton conducted a traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 20 in the Canton, Texas, area, according to the release.
During the stop, Lt. Burton utilized his K-9 partner, Rico, who notified of possible narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed 220 pounds of marijuana.
The suspect, who has not been identified at this time, has been booked into the Van Zandt County Jail and is awaiting arraignment on a charge for possession of marijuana greater than 50 pounds and less than or equal to 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony. If convicted, the suspect faces two to 20 years in prison.
