LUFKIN, Texas — A Lufkin man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Tyler County early Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m., on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, on Farm-to-Market (FM) 256 in Tyler County — approximately five miles east of Colmesneil, Texas.

A 2008 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on FM 256 when, for an unknown reason, veered off the roadway and overturned several times, according to DPS Sergeant Stephanie Davis citing preliminary crash investigation.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified by police as 55-year-old Dietrich Hart of Lufkin, Texas, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Hart was transported to a Tyler County hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver, identified by police as 51-year-old Robert Hadnot, also of Lufkin, was transported by ambulance to a Tyler County hospital with serious injuries. He was reportedly wearing his seat belt.

DPS says the crash investigation remains ongoing.
