SHELBY COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas man was arrested after an undercover operation revealed he wanted to kill, sexually assault, and cannibalize an underage girl, details of which were revealed in an arrest warrant affidavit which first obtained by KTRE.
21-year-old Alexander Nathan Barter was arrested and charged with criminal solicitation, a first-degree felony; criminal attempt to capital murder, a second-degree felony; conspiracy to commit capital murder, a first-degree felony; and criminal attempt to sexual performance of a child, a first-degree felony, according to Shelby County Jail records.
Barter allegedly posted on the dark web seeking a person to commit "necrophilia and cannibalism." An undercover special agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded, posing as a father offering his young daughter, according to the report.
According to the report, Barter had planned to meet with father and daughter for a hiking trip where, instead, he would meet them at a hotel to sexually assault, kill, and cannibalize the young female.
On October 19, 2018, as Barter was scheduled to meet with the father and his daughter, law enforcement converged on his residence and arrested him — discovering several items, including a plastic trash bag and a knife, as described in his conversations with the undercover officers, according to the affidavit.
Barter later admitted to investigators to making contact with and speaking to the undercover agent about the details listed in the affidavit.
Bond information was not available at the time of press.
