TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A gas odor complaint led to the discovery of over 30 kilos of methamphetamine at a north Travis County apartment on Tuesday.
At approximately 6 p.m., on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Travis County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to assist the Austin Fire Department with a 911 call where a complainant reported the odor of natural gas in an apartment unit in the 1900 block of Wells Branch Parkway — which is located just north of the Austin city limits in the Wells Branch area of unincorporated Travis County.
As the Travis County Sheriff's Office deputy approached, an Austin Fire Department firefighter advised a person was running from the apartment, according to the sheriff's office.
"It was determined that the source of the odor was a vehicle gas tank inside the apartment," stated the sheriff's office. "The TCSO VICE unit was called to the scene and they seized approximately 30-40 kilos of methamphetamine."
The apartment resident, identified by police as 27-year-old Ana Angelica Jalomo, was arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance greater than or equal to 400 grams, according to county jail records.
