SAN ANGELO, Texas — The suspected gunman in a drive-by shooting outside a San Angelo nightclub is behind bars, according to police.
18-year-old Anthony Rodriguez was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting.
Around 2:45 a.m., on Friday, November 1, 2019, the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to the Club El Patron, located on South Chadbourne Street, for reports of a drive-by shooting with multiple victims.
There, police located three victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. All three were transported to local hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds to their lower extremities. A fourth victim, who was shot in the shoulder, was transported to the hospital by private vehicle before officer's arrival.
"Two of the male victims, ages 21, were treated and later released but a 22-year-old female and a 22-year-old male required emergency surgery and are reportedly in stable condition," stated the San Angelo Police Department.
Police, citing preliminary investigation, say Rodriguez was driving in the parking lot when he struck two parked vehicles. When bystanders alerted Rodriguez that he had struck the vehicles, police say he responded with gunfire.
Investigators quickly obtained information that led them to Rodriguez's residence on Era Street. There, police arrested Rodriguez and, after obtaining a search warrant, located and seized four firearms. One of those firearms was reported stolen.
Police say additional charges may be filed in the case.
Last week, 23-year-old Brandon Ray Gonzales was arrested in a separate shooting at a party venue near Greenville, Texas. There, police say two people were shot and killed and another 12 people were injured either by gunfire or while attempting to escape.
