CLIFTON, Texas — A Clifton man was killed after striking the back of an 18-wheeler in west Texas on Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at approximately 3:04 a.m. on Interstate some eight miles west of Big Spring, Texas.
Preliminary crash investigation, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, indicates 37-year-old Troy D. Hogue of Clifton, Texas, failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a semi-trailer being towed by a 2015 Peterbilt driven by a 64-year-old Granbury, Texas, man.
Hogue, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Angela Griffin.
Weather and road conditions were clear and dry at time of the crash, according to investigators.
