AUSTIN, Texas — A $1,000 reward is being offered in a fatal Austin shooting that occurred at a BBQ gathering on Saturday.
On Saturday, August 22, 2020, at approximately 7:33 p.m., the Austin Police Department responded to a parking lot at 5707 Manor Road for a reported shooting.
There, Austin Police Department officers located 27-year-old Dontra Jamol Kinsey lying on the ground. Police officers began resuscitation efforts until Austin-Travis County EMS transported Kinsey to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he was pronounced deceased.
"Detectives learned there was a BBQ gathering in the parking lot when the shooting occurred," read a statement from the Austin Police Department. "Numerous witnesses observed the incident but have not yet come forward."
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s is conducting an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
A $1000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case, according to the Austin Police Department.
